Bedford Garden Festival

The Bedford Garden Festival will take place from 29 to 31 October 2010. It's one of the Eastern Cape's most popular rural lifestyle experiences.

No wonder our visitors keep coming back for more. There's a fabulous range of gardens to visit - vast park-like expanses on some of the farms, smaller gardens in the village and township, cheeky scarecrows popping up all over the place. And masses of healthy old-fashioned plants to buy at every turn. As you travel to the farm gardens enjoy the adventure of exploring district roads that wind through the landscape we love so much: golden grasslands, indigenous bush and dramatic mountains.

There are terrific opportunities for birding, tree-watching, mountain-biking and hiking ... And we Bedfordians are famous for our hospitality so expect a warm welcome and scrumptious food.

Nxuba Launch new Tourism Marketing Campaign

"Everybody is looking for something new and different, and what we are doing with our tourism marketing campaign is to showcase just what they are looking for," said Cecilia Auld, Councillor for Tourism, Nxuba Municipality and driving force behind the new marketing campaign for the Nxuba area.

"The new marketing campaign aims to promote the unique beauty, diverse landscape and immense history of the area. More and more people want to get away into the country. With its pristine rivers, beautiful green valleys and clear mountain air, visitors can expect to have their spirit restored!"

The new tourist route is to be known as the "Ilifa Country Escape™ ".

The name Ilifa, which means "heritage™", was adopted by the community for the Local Tourism Organisation and seems fitting to be used as part of the new tourism slogan.

Says Auld: "The rest of the tourism slogan: "Pure. Natural. Unspoiled.™" says it all!"
